The POLITEHNICA Publishing House was founded in 1996 to support the educational process, and to increase the prestige of the tutelary university by publishing some representative works for the scientific and technical potential of the POLITEHNICA University of Timișoara. After four years of activity, the Publishing House could report exceeding the symbolic threshold of 100 titles published. Nowadays, the Publishing House can boast over 1500 titles (publications and republications) and over 800 doctoral theses published.

Through the quality of the authors and the reputation of the scientific reviewers, the books of the Politehnica Publishing House represent an evidence of commitment and professionalism. In a book of essays (“Grey Gold”, Dacia Publishing House, 1972), Mircea Malița, former Minister of Education, was not afraid to state that “the best polytechnic in the country is in Timișoara”, and the Politehnica University of Timișoara has grown through the people who had enlivened this institution. The Publishing House represented the binder that fostered the connection between man and book, between author and creation, respectively creation and reader.

The Politehnica Publishing House has made strong efforts to strengthen its position as a unit specialised in technical, scientific and didactic literature. Quality assurance in content and form is one of the main objectives pursued by the Politehnica Publishing House.

Over time, the Publishing House has published hundreds of doctoral theses, especially in the technical field, but without being limited to it. The faculty scientific bulletins series includes journals covering areas such as: automation and computers, electronics and telecommunications, electrical and power engineering, construction and architecture, environmental engineering and chemistry, mechanics, economics and management, and so on. The collections of the Publishing House include an impressive number of courses and text books written by individual authors or groups of authors.

Starting in 2017, the POLITEHNICA Publishing House has undergone a reinvention process aimed at facilitating the public's access to the works developed under the logo of this institution, increasing the visibility in the virtual space, as well as in the physical one, by opening a bookstore (“BOOKSHOP@UPT”) in the centre of the university campus.
The action titled “POLITEHNICA 100” (the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Politehnica University of Timișoara in 2020), as well as the framework provided by “Timișoara - European Capital of Culture” in 2021, will be events that the Publishing House wishes to mark through a series of reference monographs, representative scientific papers, book launches, etc., wishing to contribute to the promotion of the image of Timișoara's polytechnic and cultural space.

The POLITEHNICA Printing House was founded in the 1970s when the Lithography department was established, in order to support teachers and students by facilitating the access to printed information. Subsequently, the Lithography department was transformed into a Multiplication Centre, having the same purpose of supporting the didactic process. In 2007, UPT's Multiplication Centre entered its last stage of reinvention, becoming what is today the Politehnica Printing House.

It has preserved as fundamental purpose the support of the didactic process and the facilitation of the students' access to the information and the materials made available to them by the teachers, but in addition it has extended its field of activity by offering a number of other complementary services. At present, the Printing House is an important partner of the Politehnica Publishing House, the Communication and Image Department, but also of all the other teaching and administrative structures in the university.

In recent years, the Printing House has gained market share, offering its services to the outside university environment as well. In 2014, the Printing House was fully refurbished through the acquisition of state-of-the-art digital printing machines. The print came with a new vision, given the impact of technological development and of the Internet on human society - these revolutionizing the idea of printing, and eliminating the traditional barriers. It was not just a simple shift from the offset to the digital treatment, but these were new ways to create value.

The POLITEHNICA Printing House does not mean only cutting-edge technology and good performance, but also professionals. It is not only a symbol, but also a responsible attitude towards collaborators through the quality products and services that we have been offering with competence and readiness for nearly 50 years.
